The Mystery of Christ

Please notice here in the book of Romans what Paul says concerning this mystery which was hidden in the Old Testament scriptures.

"Now to Him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began.

"But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith" (Rom. 16:25-26).

This mystery, beloved, which Paul now calls "my gospel" was kept secret in the Old Testament scriptures by God Himself.  God inspired scriptures to be written by men in time past concerning Christ's death for certain men's sins, but He was not making it known unto the sons of men what it meant at that time, which is another proof of the inspiration of the scripture in the Bible.  Unless God Almighty make the thing known unto men by His Spirit they cannot get it, although they may have been the ones writing it down in a book to read.  Please note the following passage of scripture.

"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.

"But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

"For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

"Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God" (I Cor. 2:9-12).

But you may ask why would God have kept this information a secret back in the Old Testament scriptures when it was God Himself who inspired those men to write of these things?  Please notice the answer found in the following verses written by the pen of the apostle Paul.

"But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

"Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory" (I Cor. 2:7-8).

It is clear to the serious student of the Word of God that the Lord had to

This mystery, beloved, which Paul now calls "my gospel" was kept secret in the Old Testament scriptures by God Himself.
